Katherine Mathewson - Bio

Born and raised in Ontario, this young artist has set out to present a collection of works which she feels is truly representative of Canada. This series seeks to evoke a response from its audience by capturing the essence of our collective experiences from the mundane to the sublime.

Katherine was educated at Sheridan College and is a graduate of their esteemed Illustration Program. Upon graduation Katherine received a ten thousand dollar grant from the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation to further pursue her passion as a visual communicator. The funds she received allowed her to travel and gain valuable experience which has given insight into what is important to Canadians, including herself.

From the mountains of British Columbia to a small deserted Air Force base in Picton, Ontario, Katherine's work is a reflection of who she is, where she comes from and what she believes. It is her hope that this visual chronicle of her experience is able to impact her audience in such a way that it evokes a respect for our past and a passion for our future.
